I’ve never read a book about skating, which is why the blurb caught my attention. Can’t say I was disappointed.

The book is about Liza and her life as a figure skater. The readers follow her journey to win the gold medal at the Olympics. Therefore, a lot of chapters are dedicated to skating, training, how hard Liza works, what she goes through etc.

The novel also focuses on romance, since Liza’s main focus was skating and nothing else. There are a lot of first times for Liza – first date, first boyfriend, first kiss, first college party etc. It is a nice, cute read.

Liza – main character. She is kind, hard working, ambitious.
I liked Liza, she is a nice character to follow. Sometimes she is naive and childish, but it complements the story in a good way. These flaws show that 1. she is human, and 2. Liza really is ‘inexperienced’.

Braden – the love interest and the guy who turn Liza’s world upside down.
I also liked Braden – he’s nice, kind, warm, loyal. Sometimes it seems he is too perfect, though. Nothing he does fails, and he doesn’t seem to have any flaws.

I am not the biggest romantic. I enjoy romance novels, but with a limit and I don’t tend to be moved easily. So, please keep this in mind.

The romance in this novel is cute, innocent and lovely. It makes the novel be a perfect easy, relaxing read. I think it will be a good novel to get out of a reading slump.

I think that there is some unnecessary drama towards the end. I mean, the problem that rises could’ve been easily resolved by communicating. I understand that Liza is inexperience, but her older friends could’ve given her some advice in this regard.

Golden Rush is a nice, interesting book about figure skating and first love.

It is a fast and relaxing read, as well as entertaining. Overall I enjoyed it.

Yes, of course. I recommend it to anyone who likes figure skating and/or romance. Yes, I think romance lovers will enjoy this novel. Likewise, Young Adult fans will also appreciate Gold Rush.
